SSD is a bit of an unknown product compared to others that are out there and being used by thousands more people and for a longer period of time. In terms of kit construction, S2.0 includes a few basic layouts, and beyond that you can also augment kits with so-called X-Drums. The "Bank Job" track sounds pretty good for that style, although there is a lossy thing going on with the cymbals. Superior Drummer is Toontrack's flagship drum sampler and, as such, not only sounds great but is highly configurable. maybe one or two presets that use 5 Toms and Double kick for the metal maniacs. Last time I spent some time really searching for user clips of it there weren't many to be found as it probably hadn't been out for long. Steven Slate Drums 4 aka SSD4 is a flexible drum instrument plugin with. His site seems to be down all of a sudden so i'll check those out later. IMO, if you arent convinced by what is already out there on the kit demos and the clips, then you probably wont be.
Splatt88's stuff with Slate snares/kicks is what made me buy these samples. Really shows the variety of these samples.Įnditol's clips have Slate stuff. On the forum, you will find people who program and mix well, and people who dont.Īnd anything that Vita Et Musica does is incredible. The majority of demos on the site are 100% midi.Īll of the "solo drum audio demos" are 100% midi.so you either find them convincing or you dont. Not convinced yet it offers this, but i'd love it if it does. You should be able to pull off double bass that doesn't sound like triggers yet also doesn't drastically change with every hit (like EZDrummer does). If you have multiple samples per velocity, you should be able to pull off a snare roll pretty convincingly using just a few velocity changes. Yet I have not heard enough to be convinced of it. These programs sure as hell ought to by this point. And I would like to believe it really offers a more natural sound.
